About Julie

How Julie works

Julie is the senior occupational therapist in Constellation's Victorian team, and the clinician many of the complex Melbourne referrals land with. She has 34 years of clinical experience behind her, across hospital neuro rehabilitation, paediatrics, spinal cord injury services, aged care, return-to-work and mental health settings, and she has carried that depth into her current work with NDIS, Aged Care and private clients.

Her caseload now spans the full lifespan: children working on regulation and daily routines, adults rebuilding skills after illness or injury, older Australians staying safe and independent at home, and people navigating significant disability or chronic conditions. Her assessments are the kind that planners, insurers, GPs and Support at Home providers tend to recognise as solid, because they're built on three decades of seeing what 'function' actually looks like in real homes and workplaces.

Julie works out of the Hawthorn clinic and via mobile visits across greater Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong. A typical week might involve a sensory-rich session with a 7-year-old in clinic, an in-home Functional Capacity Assessment for an NDIS plan review, a workplace visit for a return-to-work plan, and an aged care home visit to look at bathroom safety and bed transfers.

Her assessment work is a significant part of her role: Functional Capacity Assessments for NDIS access and plan reviews, home modification reports, equipment prescription and home safety reviews under Aged Care and Support at Home, and complex assessments for clients with overlapping physical, cognitive and mental health needs. She writes reports that are clear, evidence-based and funding-aligned, so families and referrers can actually use them.

Alongside her clinical caseload, Julie helps mentor the wider Constellation OT team. Junior OTs across the practice loop her in on complex cases, and her experience in formal rehab settings is a real anchor for the broader team's reporting and clinical reasoning.

Common reasons people come to Julie include NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments, home modifications and equipment recommendations under Aged Care, neuro rehab support after stroke or brain injury, return-to-work planning, paediatric OT for school-aged kids, and complex multi-system presentations.

Approach

Julie is evidence-based, deeply experienced and quietly warm. She has the seniority to sit with complex, multi-system clients without losing the practical, everyday lens that good OT requires.
