Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy for the things that matter.

Our occupational therapists help children, adults and older Australians do the everyday things that make a life: getting dressed, regulating big feelings, moving safely around the home, returning to work, or running a household. We work in clinics, in homes, in schools and via telehealth.

What we offer

Inside occupational therapy
01

Paediatric OT

Therapy for fine motor, gross motor, handwriting, self-care, sensory processing and regulation in children.

  • Hold a pencil and finish a worksheet without tears
  • Get dressed in the morning without a battle
  • Tolerate the school yard, the supermarket and the haircut
  • Use sensory strategies that the teacher can support too
02

Adolescent OT

OT for teens building independence, executive function, sensory regulation and confidence in daily life.

  • Manage homework, devices and bedtime without daily blow-ups
  • Catch public transport and order food independently
  • Sensory-friendly study setups that actually get used
  • Plan and follow through on multi-step tasks
03

Adult OT

OT for adults building independence at home, work, study and community participation, including mental health OT.

  • Cook a meal, manage medication and run a household
  • Get back into work or study after illness, injury or burnout
  • Use routines and pacing that protect energy
  • Equipment and home setups that make life easier, not harder
04 Growing area of practice

Aged care OT

OT for older Australians staying safe and independent at home, under Aged Care, Support at Home and home care package funding. A fast-growing part of our practice.

  • Home safety and falls-risk reviews that keep people on their feet
  • Equipment, rails and modifications matched to how the home is used
  • Support to keep doing daily tasks, cooking, dressing and bathing
  • Reports and recommendations aged care assessors and providers accept
05

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)

OT-led functional assessments for NDIS access, plan reviews, insurance and return-to-work planning.

  • Clear, funding-ready report aligned to NDIS plan categories
  • Functional picture the NDIA can act on
  • Recommendations tied to real-life goals, not generic templates
  • Turnaround agreed up front so plan reviews don't stall
06

Home modification assessments

OT assessments and reports for minor and complex home modifications under NDIS and aged care funding.

  • Bathrooms, ramps and rails specified by an OT, not a builder
  • Clear scope so quotes are like-for-like
  • Modifications that match how the person actually uses the home
  • Aged care, NDIS and DVA reporting in formats funders accept
07

Sensory regulation

Sensory assessment and regulation programs for children, teens and adults who feel overloaded or undersensitive.

  • Strategies for the school yard, the office and the shopping centre
  • Sensory diets parents and teachers can run consistently
  • Calmer transitions between activities and environments
  • Self-awareness for the older child or adult to advocate for themselves
08

Assistive technology and equipment

OT assessment, prescription and reporting for assistive technology, low-cost AT and complex equipment under NDIS.

  • AT prescribed by an OT who has seen it in use
  • Trials before purchase wherever possible
  • Reports that meet NDIS AT evidence requirements
  • Training so the equipment actually gets used at home
09

Return-to-work OT

Functional assessments, graduated return-to-work plans and workplace assessments for insurance and DVA clients.

  • Realistic graduated return plan agreed with employer and treater
  • Workplace setup that supports recovery rather than re-injury
  • Clear capacity statements for insurers
  • Ongoing OT support through the return, not just the report

What it is

Occupational therapy that meets you where you live

Occupational therapy (OT) supports the practical, day-to-day skills that let people participate in school, work, home life and community. That can mean handwriting, self-regulation and sensory processing for kids, return-to-work and daily living for adults, or safe transfers and meaningful routines for older Australians.

Our OTs are AHPRA-registered and experienced in NDIS, aged care, DVA and insurance work. We do functional assessments and reports that funders take seriously, and we follow through with therapy that builds the skills the report identified.

Where it adds value, our Allied Health Assistants run program-based sessions under OT delegation. That keeps therapy consistent between clinician sessions and stretches NDIS budgets without compromising clinical oversight.

Common questions

Occupational Therapy FAQs
Can I see an occupational therapist at home?

Yes. Most of our OT work for kids, adults and older Australians happens in the home, school or workplace, because that's where the skills actually need to land. We do mobile OT across greater Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and SE Queensland.

What is a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

An FCA is a structured OT assessment that documents how a person manages everyday activities: self-care, household tasks, community access, work and study. It's the evidence the NDIA, insurers and aged care funders use to make decisions about support. We write FCAs that link findings directly to NDIS plan categories and real-life goals.

How long is a Functional Capacity Assessment?

An FCA typically involves a one-to-two hour appointment (often in the home), a follow-up where needed, and a written report. We agree the turnaround in writing before we start. Most FCA reports are with you within two to four weeks of the assessment.

Do I need a GP referral for an FCA?

No. NDIS participants and their support coordinators can book an FCA directly through our intake. We do ask for relevant background information and any current reports so we don't duplicate work the participant has already paid for.

Can an OT prescribe equipment and AT under NDIS?

Yes. Our OTs assess for and prescribe assistive technology, from low-cost AT through to complex equipment and home modifications. We follow the NDIS AT evidence requirements, including trial where appropriate, and write the reports needed for funding.

What's the difference between OT and physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy focuses on movement, strength and pain. Occupational therapy focuses on how a person does the activities of daily life, which includes movement but also cognition, sensory processing, environment and routine. Many clients see both, and a good OT will refer you on where physio is the better fit.

Do you offer Allied Health Assistant support?

Yes. Where it adds value, our AHAs run program-based sessions under OT delegation and supervision. It's a way to keep therapy consistent between clinician sessions and stretch NDIS budgets without losing clinical oversight.
